WE’RE ALL IN!
A Capital campaign Creating a high school home for generations of Sentinels
Phase Two is NOW
Phase II provides two state of the art science labs to Stella Maris Academy High School; allowing for excellence in formation in the sciences that is essential to the academic formation of our Sentinels. We are excited to announce a $1.5 million dollar matching gift for this effort! Dollar for dollar, your gift will be DOUBLED. Now is the time to be All In!
Phase One is DONE
Phase I provided a complete renovation of nine classrooms, common spaces, offices, a 5k trail system, and most importantly, a forever home for our Sentinels- past, present, and future! The storied history of the Stella Maris Academy High School Campus is being revitalized one phase at a time.
Providential Growth of Catholic Education
In 1909, the Diocese of Duluth built the St. James Orphanage to fulfill the mission of caring for children in need. Today, our high school sits on the same property, in the same building, fulfilling the mission to educate. Acquired in October of 2021, Stella Maris Academy welcomed 9th graders in the fall of 2022 to continue their Catholic school experience after a 50- year absence of Catholic high school in Duluth.
Work to date: Phase I renovations of the 1909 building were complete in the Fall of 2023 bringing us 9 new classrooms, a new locker bay and student entrance, commons spaces on all levels of the building, and a 5k outdoor trail on our property.
We’re not done yet! Phase II focuses on our science wing which will bring 2 dedicated, specially appointed and equipped classrooms with labs. Not only that, but we will complete the west wing of the building increasing our capacity for our ever-growing enrollment and expanded programming needs.
Phase III vision: Our future is bright indeed and casts a vision for outdoor space expansion to support extra-curricular activities. With 140 acres of land, our possibilities are great and we look ahead with great hope to this reality.
