Reaching Out to the Community
With responsibility comes opportunity. Recently, Bishop Felton met with the Stella Maris Academy faculty and staff to dive more deeply into his recent Pastoral Letter. Bishop shared that our role as Catholic educators is to be disciples to every single member of our community, no matter their faith background or spiritual journey. For this to come to fruition, we must be intentional that our interactions, work, and prayer focuses on the healing, hope, and joy that comes from Jesus Christ. This responsibility does not fall solely on Catholic school communities and educators, however; our schools in the diocese are growing when many other ministries are experiencing a decline. Stella Maris Academy “is a hot spot for the Holy Spirit,” and we have the opportunity and responsibility to not only form our students mind, body, and soul in the traditions of the Church but to be an example to all we encounter … and invite others to see the beauty and joy that comes from our mission. If the community of Sentinels — faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, parishioners, donors, and prayer warriors supporting Catholic education — unify together in this greater mission of healing, hope, and joy, our schools will continue to thrive, our parishes will be nurtured, and our broader community will transform … one Sentinel at a time! That is our mission, friends. Stella Maris, Pray for Us!
